Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the business to NRT for $66 million. In the following months, she exited from the business. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 investment that covered 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. The family depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink too much, and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
