Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of United States. Harris is the first female vice-president and highest-ranking female official of U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She was praised nationally for her provocative questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of assault on a woman.
